Capsouto Freres

[THE PICTURES ARE NOT MINE! I found them on Google.]

This past Tuesday night, I had the pleasure of dinner at Capsouto Freres. This beautiful slice of French heaven is located on the corner of Washington and Watts Streets in downtown Manhattan and is nearly 30 years old!

This restaurant is divinely gorgeous. The space has high-ceilings and is decorated modestly, with plants on the window sills, starched white tablecloths and red roses on the tables. Classical music plays just loud enough to hear in the background and the lighting (which can make or break a dining experience for me) is perfect. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is so relaxed and inviting.

The menu at Capsouto Freres is surprisingly uncomplicated. The restaurant uses simple, high-quality ingredients and cooks them to perfection. They are also well-known for their extensive wine selection.

[I did not get any pictures of the food unfortunately. It seemed silly to do in such a nice place.]

The food was incredible! My dinner consisted of an Arugula salad with goat cheese, the beef Bourguignon and the strawberry rhubarb crisp.

The salad was a generous portion but could have used more dressing. The cheese was fantastic, though. The beef was unbelievable!!! So juicy and perfectly seasoned, and I didn’t even need a knife to cut it, it practically melted beneath my fork. It was served over the most delicious, buttery mashed potatoes I have ever had, alongside steamed snow peas. I nearly licked my plate clean. The crisp was served topped with lavender ice cream. It was perfection, absolute perfection. I couldn’t finish it though because I was so full already : /

This is now officially my new favorite restaurant. I am undoubtedly going back there. Hopefully soon.

I definitely recommend a visit to Capsouto Freres, if you’re in the area.

What a fantastic meal. I love it when you get beef so tender you don't need a knife to cut it.
