My Meringue Adventure

A French meringue is an egg-white foam prepared by beating together sugar and egg-whites. There are also Italian and Swiss meringues which are composed of the same ingredients but prepared slightly differently. I made my meringue into cookies, which turn out to be airy, light and fragile but delicious and low in fat, which is perfect for a health freak with a sweet tooth such as myself.

My mom used to make meringues when I was little but I've never made them myself and thought it was about time. I am not going to share the procedure with you as I am no expert in the pastry department but I wanted to document my little adventure nonetheless and show it off to the world!

Gathering the ingredients…

Beating egg-whites by hand is painful and takes agility but I did it!

Ta-da! Aren’t they just the cutest?!

I got the recipe from Chef Ellie Krieger on the Food Network and modified it slightly. You can see the recipe here: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ellie-krieger/chocolate-almond-meringues-recipe/index.html
